New Delhi: The shooting for megastar Rajinikanth starrer ‘Annaatthe’ has been stopped after some crew members tested positive for COVID-19. According to a report in ANI, the shooting for the upcoming movie has been put on halt after Coronavirus positive cases were detected on the sets during routine testing.
Earlier this month, the shoot of ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ was also stalled after Varun Dhawan and Neetu Singh tested positive for the virus. The makers have now resumed shooting for the comedy drama after Varun and Neetu recovered from COVID-19. The movie also stars Anil Kapoor and Kiara Advani.
Rajinikanth Tests Negative For COVID-19
Sun Pictures took to social media to issue a statement after the film’s crew members tested positive for COVID-19. The Twitter handle of the production house confirmed that Rajinikanth has tested negative while four crew members have been diagnosed with the virus. The shooting has been postponed to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.
“During routine testing at #Annaathe shoot 4 crew members have tested positive for Covid19. Superstar @rajinikanth and other crew members have tested negative. To ensure utmost safety #Annaatthe shooting has been postponed,” the tweet read.
Last week, the Twitter handle of Sun Pictures shared a photo of Rajinikanth from the sets of ‘Annaatthe’. The makers resumed the shoot for the highly-anticipated flick in the second week of December in Hyderabad, months after it was affected by the COVID-19 lockdown.
Annaatthe Star Cast & Release Date
The film has a star-studded cast in the form of Rajinikanth, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushbu, Nayanthara, Prakash Raj and Jackie Shroff. The Tamil action drama is being directed by Sivakumar Jayakumar, professionally known as Siva.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth was last seen in ‘Darbar’, which released on January 9, 2020.
