An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred close to Sikkim-Nepal border at 2049 hours on Monday. The Nationwide Heart for Seismology reportedly stated that the earthquake struck at a depth of 30 km from the floor. The placement has been spoted as 27.17 N ; 88.89 E
As per the early inputs, the epicentre of the earthquake was 25 km east-southeast of Sikkim’s capital Gangtok.
In addition to Sikkim, gentle earthquake tremors had been felt in Assam, north Bengal and Bihar. In Bengal, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and few different districts witnessed reasonable quake this night at about 8.50 PM.

Information company PTI quoted an official confirming the incident. He knowledgeable that folks obtained frightened and rushed out of their homes however no lack of life or property has been reported thus far.
